Characters Bedroom

A stream of light is cast across the creaky hardwood flooring through the arched windows. The rich mahogany bed frame fills the room with a musty scent of aged wood. On the bed is a dark green duvet neatly pulled across the mattress except for a thin diagonal crease. The white pillows are freshly fluffed with a gold trimming made of woven silk. A tall white dresser stands opposite to the bed below a painting of rolling hills. Each drawer on the dresser has a gold handle. Atop of the dresser is an old oval mirror that sits alone and centered. A nightstand is beside the bed with a weathered copy The Holy Bible that has been handed down for generations. Almost every page has been dog-eared from its multiple front to back readings. A glass of bubbling tonic water is set on the bed and the sizzling can be heard alone.

If I Had an Acre of Land

If I had an acre of land I would plant an orchard on it. This orchard would have groves of apple trees. Macintosh and Golden Delicious apples would glimmer in the sun like ornaments on a Christmas tree. The smell of ripening fruit could fill the air. In the middle of the orchard I would plant a large oak tree. In the shade of the oak tree I would cut a clearing out of the long grass. Wicker chairs would be set up in a circle around a glass and iron tea table. After a long day I would sit in the chair and watch the sun set over the tops of my beautiful trees and bask in the fleeting warmth of the sun. As the sun fell beneath the hills I would look up and see the emerging stars like glowing gems over my acre of groves.

“Two years he walks the Earth. No phone, no pool, no pets, no cigarettes. Ultimate freedom. An extremist. An aesthetic voyager whose home is the road. Escaped from Atlanta. Thou shalt not return, 'cause "the West is the best." And now after two rambling years comes the final and greatest adventure. The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual revolution. Ten days and nights of freight trains and hitchhiking bring him to the great white north.
